GEAR UP
(Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduates Program)
Federal Grants that was just renewed so we know serve grades 9-12. To qualify our program to have to meet the guidelines for free or reduced lunch and not already be another federal program such as ETS or Upward Bound. Our goal is to help students be successful in school and prepare them to attend college.
Some services we provide:
-Tutoring (during and after school)
-Independent Study Class (to complete work and make up classes)
-Freshmen Mentor Class
-Scholarship/Financial Aid Assistance
-Academic Support
-College Campus Tours
-ACT Assistance
-College Prep
-Career/Study Skills Workshops
Trips we have planned for first Semester:
-Oct. 5-7 Took 17 Students on a Northern College tour BYU, UVU, SLCC, Weber, and USU.
-Nov. 3-4 SUU Red Riot
-Nov. 17-18 Snow Blast
-Dec. 1-2 DSU Preview (Dixie State College)
(We plan on more trips the second half of the year, but they are not planned yet.)
